It’s no wonder that Puglia is so attractive to those seeking out pristine blue cloudless skies complemented by the ‘greenness’ of the landscape of olives trees and vines. Blessed with on average 300 days of sunshine per year, Puglia has a wonderful climate even through the winter which is one of the many reasons it’s becoming an attractive option for property ownership by expats.

The hills along the Adriatic coast always have a slight breeze, which is especially welcome during July and August when temperatures reach their peak of anything between 35-40oC; although this can be exceeded on some days!

Puglia along with other parts of southern Europe can also experience the Sirocco Winds from time to time, which are warm and humid occurring over the Northern Mediterranean Sea. The Sirocco blows from the south or southeast originating over North Africa as a dry wind but picking up moisture as it crosses the Mediterranean.

Rainfall is scarce during the summer apart from the odd storm which might sweep in suddenly but disappear just as quickly. With wonderfully hot temperatures during the summer and mild weather in the autumn, a quick dip in the crystal clear waters of the Adriatic or Ionian sea is very palatable even as late as October. Apart from the obvious benefits from the amount of sunshine Puglia receives a year, the winter months average temperature can be anything upward of 5-10oC more than experienced in the UK. In January the average temperature is around 13-14oC with historical records reaching as high as 20oC.

Rainfall in the region is usually concentrated between the winter months of November through to early March with on average 600-700mm of rain over 55-60 days although the trend is getting dryer over the last few years.

This January the climate is particulary fine with temperatures from 14° to 18°, reserve now a Fly&buy package to visit our properties
